Elite Fleet of Virginia

The one and only Elite Fleet of Virginia.

The Elite Fleet of Virginia is a scale electric boat club that meets throughout the year on either Saturdays or Sundays at either Diamond Lake Estates, Mt. Trashmore Lake or more recently Sandy Bottom Nature Park in Hampton. We usually start to gather around 12 noon and stay until we're too hot, too cold, or too tired, or afraid of getting in trouble for staying out too long. Every so often we try to get together for a night run as well, giving us a chance to try out all the various lights we've installed!

Currently we have 15 active members and over 35 boats. The different types of boats vary from military craft to civilian, and from kits to scratch built, even a few sea plains. The sizes range anywhere between 9 inches to 12 feet long. The Elite Fleet does not loan boats to try, but we are more than happy to give assistance to anyone wishing to build a boat. We will try to answer any questions you may have and help solve problems you come across.

Sandy Bottom Nature Park is just off Hampton Roads Center Parkway & Big Bethel Road, Diamond Lake Estates is Located just off Northampton Blvd. at the corner of Norwich Ave. and Gretna Rd. in Virginia Beach, & Mt. Trashmore Lake is located east of Independence Blvd. on Edwin Dr. in Virginia Beach. Look for us by the information center, near the boat docks!

My dad past away and left me 3 RC boats. They look like WWI battleships and 6.5 ft long. He made them from ship yard blue prints. I:ve operated them before and they run great. What i:m looking for is help to get them running I dont know how to get to the batteries or control the I also would like to sell them so someone else can enjoy them. Contact mike at 757-867;3692.

Hi! We're having a Coast Guard City Portsmouth celebration in August, with a big festival on August 6. Would the Elite Fleet of Virginia be interested in participating? We'll be located on the riverfront (at High Street Landing) and down High Street. There will be a lot of people who'd love to see what you're up to. Please contact me at 757-397-6395. My name is Terry Danaher and I'm a volunteer coordinating the event. Thanks!

Hello. I have recently gotten back involved in the RC hobby and am looking at getting into the boat/ship side. I found your group while doing some research into a 1/96 scale Coast Guard 270 model I'm looking to build. I am retired Coast Guard (ET) and my last ship was the Legare and I'm wanting to build her.

Anyway I've been doing research and looking for resources. I figure getting hooked up with a local club would be a great idea so I have submitted a membership request. Look forward to meeting members and trading info and ideas.

Regards,
Jason Whiting (USCG Ret)
